Welcome to Ms. Ling's teaching blog in Fall 2023! This is the additional website for your reference in case our course website is in maintenance hours.
The following information is for Georgia Virtual School students. Please check email and read the announcements by clicking on Class Announcements in course home daily. Then, please email me if you still have questions in assignments and tests. You will start to work in Chinese after completing Acknowledgement Form Quiz. Then, you will see all the due dates of assignments and tests next today by clicking on Modules. However, please feel free to contact me directly by sending me a message through Inbox of course home which is in left side of homepage.
Welcome to Chinese I, II, III and IV courses here! There are 12 modules in Chinese AB course which will include A and B courses. There are 6 modules in Chinese A course. There are 6 modules in Chinese B course. Please complete the assignments in order each module then take the module test at the end of the module learning. Please study well from 2 lessons of Etext and test review sheets with handouts before taking the test. There is only 1 attempt of each test.
Please find the module note and test review sheets of each module by your Chinese level in the following pages.
You will follow the due date to submit your assignments or take the test on time to earn a good score in your grade book due to a very strict late policy. See Late policy below: Spring and Fall semester - 10% off per day late and zero will stay at 10th day. Summer semester - 20% off per day and zero will stay at 5th day.
Your assignments include discussion topic, cultural reflection, listening/speaking, character writing, test and final exam. Please check the following requirements in your computer before starting your course.
1. Know how to type pinyin to find the correct Chinese characters. You will need to install Chinese simplified character (PRC) in your keyboard or download Google pinyin to be able to type pinyin such as "ni hao" to find the character "你好" (ni hao - hello)! Please find the information under Welcome to Chinese by clicking on Modules in left side of course home. You can also do some search in web or YouTube video to learn your own.
2. Record your Chinese greeting by speaking "你好(ni hao)" at first discussion board by clicking on Assessments (left top of course home) - Discussion.
3 Be proactive to be successful in online learning courses.
How to do well in Chinese course?There are so many materials in content areas.The following listings will help you learn well and have a very successful grade at the end of this course.
1) Access to course homepage to read announcement, read inbox message and check emailbox daily.
2) Check all the due dates of assignments and tests by clicking on Modules (in left side of course home).
3) Always study well from module Etext, handouts and test review sheets before your submission.
4) Please try to memorize and recite some useful sentences (about 5 sentences of each lesson in every module and practice/apply in your daily to sharp your language skills for future purpose.
Click on 字源Etymology and read the information under Character Decomposition to find the story of the character and learn how to remember each part of character.
Click on 筆順Stroke to learn the correct order of stroke in writing.
What you should do to be able to type “pinyin” and find “Chinese character” in your computer?
1.In the Cortana box type ‘Region’. 2.Click on ‘Region and Language Settings’. 3.Click on ‘Add a Language’. 4.From the list of languages select Chinese Simplified. 5.Select Chinese (Simplified, China). 6.Click on Language pack available. 7.Click on Options button. 8.Wait for Download to complete. 9.Under Keyboards click on Add a keyboard 10.Click on Microsoft Pinyin Input method editor and choose the language editor of your choice.
